Paving - Riven
Stone paving flags are available in a wide variety of materials, each of which has its own unique colour and texture and some very special technical qualities. All the quartzites and porphyry are exceptionally non-slip for use around swimming pools whilst being kind to the feet and having low water absorption. Alta quartzite is far stronger than granite and can take vehicular traffic when very thin if properly bedded. The Italian porphyry's varied colours and low absorbency make it highly resistant to stains and both it and Otta phyllite are also very strong. Natural surfaced (riven) paving materials, in particular, are usually best supplied as gauged widths x random lengths. This makes the fullest and most economic use of the raw material. These stones are often the answer to the most challenging requirements technically but are also truly beautiful. Many are European and can be supplied to specific non-stock sizes relatively quickly. Careful consideration of the type of stone used will make sure that, once laid, the paving will last and look good for many years.
Pink Quartzite
A recent addition to our product range this is a very economic pink quartzite for patios. Standard stock sizes: 294mm x 144mm, 294mm x 194mm, 394mm x 194mm, 594mm x 294mm all 15-25mm thick. The sizes allow for easy laying patterns to be achieved with 6mm joints. → More on Pink Quartzite
Alta Quartzite
Alta paving has extraordinary flexural strength, skid resistance and low water absorption that allows its use in traffic conditions with specific mortar and bed design. Standard stock sizes: 200mm, 250mm, 300mm, 350mm, and 400mm wide by random lengths. → More on Alta Quartzite
Donegal Quartzite
A mixture of silvery grey and golden tones make this a particularly attractive material. Standard stock sizes: 200, 250, 300, 350, 400,450 and 500mm widths, 20-30 thick. → More on Donegal Quartzite
Otta Phyllite
A very dark grey riven paving material with a fascinating appearance. Both in its riven and its honed and polished forms, it looks as though you can see into it. This phyllite is a meta-slate, extremely strong and extraordinarily striking and beautiful, also superb for internal flooring. → More on Otta Phyllite
Oppdal Quartzite
Another strong material, though not quite as amazing as Alta, but it has the ability to be cut like glass to varied shapes with straight or curved edge. As a result it forms superb cropped walling → More on Oppdal Quartzite
Porphyry
A metamorphic rock of igneous origin, this stone readily splits into naturally flat sheets. To produce rectangular paving, the edges can be sawn or split. Split-sided flags suit the garden, sawn-sided flags the market place or town centre. Colourwise, the flags are a rich, yet gentle, mixture of purple, warm grey and orange tones. We stock this paving with split sides in standard stock sizes: 100mm, 150mm, 200mm, 300mm, 350mm, and 400mm wide by random lengths all 20-60mm thick. Yorkstone
Traditional buff sandstone from Yorkshire available from stock 600mm wide with random lengths ranging from 350mm to 1000mm, 38-75mm thick. → More on Yorkstone
Green Slate
This slate is a very consistent sea green. The surface of this material is only lightly riven and has a smoother finish than most riven materials giving it a more contemporary feel. Standard stocked sizes: 400x400, 400x600, 600x600, 600x800mm 20-25mm thick. → More on Green Slate
Black Slate

Rustic Slate

Paving - Sawn/Textured
To create paving from materials which cannot be naturally riven it is necessary to saw them. For many materials it is then normal to texture the surface by either flame texturing or bush hammering to improve the appearance of the product and to make it less slippery. All Granite paving can be produced in virtually any size to order.

Buff Pink Sandstone

Circles
1.8m, 2.6m and 3.6m diameter circles are available in the beige, green and pink indian sandstones.Granite and Limestone Circles are available in 2.6m diameter. Limestone circles are produced in black, Granite circles are available in Silver Grey, Blue Grey, Yellow and Grey Pink.
All circles are supplied with kits for squaring off around them.
