To enhance our stand further a timber garden studio will be constructed and placed in the back left corner. The timber studio is by TimberStudio.com who will also be on our stand throughout the exhibition to answer questions and demonstrate the versatile uses of the studio. They are custom built, environmentally friendly, well insulated, high quality and are a wonderful addition to our stand.

The Balmoral Show is Ireland’s largest agricultural and food show that entertains the whole family. Hundreds of trade stands will cover the showgrounds offering visitors a wide range of products and services from organic foods, holidays and leisure products to landscaping, agri machinery, and 4×4 vehicles. James Kane, CED’s Irish Depot Manager, commented; “Exhibitions and shows are always a great place to catch up with familiar faces and meet with new. The Balmoral Show is so diverse and we are pleased to be part of it.”

The show takes place from Wednesday 16^th to Friday 18^th May. We are located on stand B8, in the outdoor trade space, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Working closely with the ETI board, CED are able to put in place the building blocks of an effective ethical trading programme.

The ETI base code contains provisions based on the following principles:

• No one should be forced to work.
• Workers should be able to join and form trade unions.
• Working conditions should be safe and healthy.
• Child labour should not be used.
• Working hours should not be excessive.
• Wages should be enough to live on and provide some discretionary income.
• Workers should be treated equally, regardless of their sex, ethnic group, religion or political opinions.
• Where possible, workers should be provided with regular employment.
• Workers should not be verbally, physically or sexually abused or disciplined.

CED are proud to have been accepted as a foundation member of ETI – a testament to the groundwork we’ve put in to prepare our business for ongoing progress in ethical trade.  With the support of it’s staff, we are implementing the principles of ETI’s Base Code in order to continually raise our ethical performance across all CED natural stone products.

Materials including glacial boulders, beach cobbles and slate were chosen and the features were installed. CED were asked if they would sponsor the roundabout with a view to supplying more products, to enhance the roundabout further and gladly accepted.

CED’s Marketing Director, Ian Devenish, commented “We are very pleased to be involved with the local authority, their designs for the Stonehouse Lane roundabout and other areas in Thurrock”.

Using the latest technology and computer aided design simulations to find the ideal balance between compressive strength, rigidity, abrasion resistance and flexibility, we have been able to reinforce the Cedagravel® system to greatly withstand the turning forces placed upon it when vehicles turn their wheels, whilst also achieving a higher flexibility within the system.

Another improved feature is the new sheet size of 1.6m x 1.2m which can be folded in half for ease of handling and transportation. The folding sheets have been made possible by incorporating what is probably the strongest, fully permeable geotextile fabric on the market, which also helps reduce the risk of the gravel infill breaking free.

As always, the new and improved Cedagravel® drew huge interest, with a visitor to the stand providing a good demonstration of the stability it provides for disabled access areas.  The new Plank Paving, laid in a mix of silver grey granite and black basalt, were a striking centre strip to the stand and the newly branded Imperial Setts caught the eye of many as well.

It was the first time, in recent years, we have exhibited with an open plan display.  No built up sides made access to the stand extremely easy and welcoming, which is great and invited visitors to walk across the laid products.  The stand was designed and built by our in house team and with the business getting busier and busier time was limited, so the pressure was on.  A big well done to all those involved.

It was not just our stand though that CED products featured, both The Constant Gardener and Thomas Houghton Gardens had show gardens on display.  The Constant Gardener featured Silver Grey Granite Paving and Aggregate, Flat Grey Pebbles and Slate Tier.  Beautifully, the Tier was used for both walling and a flooring element.  Thomas Houghton Gardens featured Blue Grey Granite Paving and Rustic Tier.  Both gardens looked impressive and seemed to generate a good crowd.

Michael Heap, CED’s Managing Director, held a seminar on the Thursday titled ‘Using Stone Effectively’.  It covered many aspects of natural stone, from construction and general advice to art in the streetscene.  A good number of visitors attended and a copy of the seminar synopsis is available, please contact marketing@ced.ltd.uk to get one.  Michael commented “We really need a good, consistent landscape show in London.  It would be nice to see this one grow even more next year.”

A designated Commercial section has been created, this includes various case studies showcasing a range of different schemes and special features where we have been involved, there is also a breakdown of the stone gallery and texture chart.

Throughout the brochure you will find many more insitu photographs demonstrating our depot and commercial products in different landscape and streetscape schemes. Our commitment to exhibit in 2012 follows on from the success of this years show.  The Landscape Show took place for the very first time in February this year.  Ian Devenish, CED’s Marketing Director commented “as this was a new show to the landscape industry we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the visitors and the after show response, we are looking forward to another succesful show in 2012.”

The Landscape Show is the trade exhibition for all those involved with interior and exterior landscaping and landscape gardening.  Visitors will include landscape designers, architects, landscape contractors, interior designers, event organisers and many more.  The show is held at London Olympia which is a great venue for such an event an event and will take place from Thursday 15th to Saturday 17th March.  The event features new and upcoming designs and technologies and will be supported by a comprehensive free seminar programme.

Calum Fraser, CED’s commercial manager, will be visiting the factory in China at the end of October, along with the client, the architect and employees of Frosts Landscapes Construction, to approve some mock up pieces of the walling.

Jubilee Gardens is a public park situated on the South Bank neighbouring The London Eye.  The redevelopment of the park has been designed and built especially for the Queens Diamond Jubilee and Her Majesty will be opening the gardens on the 7th June 2012.  This prestigious job will also be complete in time for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games.  Currently a flat and featureless patch of grass, the gardens will be transformed into a new green landmark for London as part of the Mayor of London’s Great Outdoors Programme.
