Rustic Caithness Flagstone Monolith
Guide price £2500 - £3000
This piece was commissioned by a Rotary Club with a total budget of £3000 . Working from a loose brief, concept sketches were produced for the clients to discuss and choose from, then the preferred option was developed into full colour spec drawings for the client's final approval. The graphic was designed by Lorraine to convey the wording that was stipulated in the brief and is written on the stones. These two stones were hand picked at the quarry, one large stone 3.5m x 1m x 90mm thick, and small one to match 1.6m x 1m x 90mm thick. Overall height 2.7m aboveground. Lettering all recessed and infilled with solid lilac colour, graphic raised and painted on a sandblasted circle. These stones are sited in an enclosed contemplation garden within a hospital complex. The installation was done by lifting the stones over the roof by crane and then cemented into a large foundation block, this part cost £500 of the budget. A similar job with stones picked from stock, predetermined text and graphics that simply need separated for sandblasting would cost around £2000.

Large Red Sandstone Entrance Sign
Guide price £2550
This piece was specially selected from the quarry and originally was one piece cut in half to create two stones. They have made 2 cuts :1 to form the faces and 1 to form the bases. The face shown above is therefore a large (1.2m x 1.5m) flat workable area. The stone had heat applied to it to dry it out. The stencil was then applied to this area and the background blasted away. All text and graphics are in relief and hand painted (2 coats). The logo was designed with sandblasting in mind.
Prices start from a little as £415 per sqm x 60mm thick for wording only ie - poems or commemorative text. Price increases up to £1250 per sqm for very detailed graphics. Guide price for above is £1000 per sqm x 60mm thick which includes design service. Volume discounts will be applied to larger areas bring the sqm price down. Text and graphics can be sprayed with white or gold highlighter. Alternatively infilled with solid colours, see next pic.
